Ball Bearings - Bearings, Packing and Jointing

Marine bearing, packing and jointing materials are used for rotating equipment support, shaft sealing and static flange or cover sealing on ships. Selection depends on equipment design, dimensions, temperature, pressure, speed, lubricant and fluid compatibility.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Ball Bearings for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Ball bearings are generally specified to ISO 15 for boundary dimensions and ISO 492 for dimensional and geometric tolerances. Jointing materials may comply with applicable EN 13555, EN 1514 or ASTM requirements depending on product type. Always verify the manufacturer's certificate and compatibility data.
Class Approval Generic bearings, packing and jointing sheets do not automatically carry marine class approval. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK approval may apply to specific machinery assemblies or type-approved products, subject to project and manufacturer documentation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify bearing designation, clearances, load rating, seal arrangement and shaft or housing tolerances before installation. Install bearings using clean tools and correct mounting force. Cut gaskets accurately, clean flange faces, align bolt holes and tighten in the specified cross-pattern and torque sequence. Do not reuse compressed gaskets.
Maintenance Tips Inspect bearings for noise, vibration, temperature rise, corrosion and lubricant condition. Relubricate only with the specified grease and quantity. Check packing leakage and adjust gradually where permitted. Inspect jointing materials during overhauls and replace damaged or compressed gaskets.
Safety Notes Isolate, lock out and depressurize equipment before work. Use correct lifting and bearing installation tools; never strike bearing rings directly. Wear eye, hand and respiratory protection when cutting or removing gasket and packing materials. Follow lubricant, chemical and hot-surface precautions.
