Battery Chargers - Electrical, Lighting and Power

Marine battery chargers convert vessel AC shore or generator power into regulated DC power for charging starter, service, and emergency battery banks. Marine-grade units typically provide multistage charging, electrical isolation, temperature compensation, and protection against overload and short circuits.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Battery Chargers for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include IEC 60335-2-29 for battery chargers, IEC 60533 for shipboard electrical and electronic equipment EMC, IEC 60092 for ship electrical installations, ABYC A-31 for marine battery chargers, and relevant CE, UL, or FCC requirements. Compliance is model-specific.
Class Approval Selected marine battery chargers may have type approval or acceptance from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK. Approval is manufacturer- and model-specific and must be verified against the vessel's class rules and current approval certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in a dry, ventilated location within the specified temperature and ingress-protection limits. Use correctly sized marine-grade cables, DC overcurrent protection near the battery, AC circuit protection, protective earthing, and manufacturer-specified clearances. Select the correct battery chemistry and charging profile.
Maintenance Tips Inspect terminals, fuses, breakers, cooling openings, fans, and cables periodically. Remove corrosion, tighten connections to the specified torque, keep ventilation paths clear, and confirm charging voltage and temperature-sensor operation. Update configurable firmware where supported.
Safety Notes Isolate AC and battery supplies before servicing. Batteries can release explosive gas and deliver very high fault current; provide ventilation, avoid sparks, wear eye protection, and use insulated tools. Verify polarity before connection and never charge frozen, damaged, or incompatible batteries.
