Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include UN 38.3 for transport testing, IEC 62619 for industrial lithium secondary cells and batteries, IEC 60533 for electromagnetic compatibility on ships, and ABYC E-13 for lithium-ion batteries installed on boats. Certification is model- and installation-specific.
Class Approval Marine class acceptance is product- and installation-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may approve lithium battery systems or installations subject to applicable type approval, fire protection, ventilation, monitoring, and integration requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in a dry, ventilated, protected location with suitable clearances and secure mechanical restraint. Use a charger and inverter compatible with the battery chemistry and BMS. Provide correctly sized cables, overcurrent protection, isolation, monitoring, and approved system integration.
Maintenance Tips Inspect terminals, cable connections, restraints, enclosure condition, and BMS alarms at planned intervals. Keep the battery within the manufacturer's voltage and temperature limits. Avoid deep discharge, unauthorized parallel or series connections, and charging below the specified temperature limit.
Safety Notes Use only the manufacturer's approved charger, protection devices, and communications equipment. Do not short-circuit, puncture, open, crush, or immerse the battery. Isolate the battery before service. Treat damaged, swollen, overheated, or water-damaged batteries as hazardous and follow vessel procedures and applicable dangerous-goods regulations.
