Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Typical marine cables are designed and tested to IEC 60092-350, IEC 60092-351, IEC 60092-353 and IEC 60092-359, as applicable. Fire-resistant cables may also be tested to IEC 60331; flame propagation and smoke performance may include IEC 60332 and IEC 61034.
Class Approval Marine cable approvals may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, RINA and other classification societies. Approval depends on the exact cable construction, voltage, installation category and manufacturer certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select conductor size, voltage rating, fire performance and cable type from the vessel cable schedule. Route cables on approved trays or conduits, maintain bending radius, separate power and signal cables, secure against vibration, and terminate with compatible marine glands and lugs.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for sheath damage, chafing, overheating, moisture ingress, loose supports and degraded glands. Keep cable trays clean and dry, verify termination tightness during planned maintenance, and replace damaged sections using an approved equivalent.
Safety Notes Isolate, lock out and verify absence of voltage before installation or maintenance. Use the correct cable ampacity and short-circuit rating, maintain required segregation, prevent overloading, and use approved fire-rated penetrations where cables pass through watertight or fire divisions.
