Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common standards include IEC 60309 for plugs, socket-outlets and couplers; IEC 60529 for ingress protection; IEC 60092-306 for electrical installations in ships where applicable; and applicable national marine electrical regulations. Certification depends on the exact product and installation.
Class Approval Marine type approval or acceptance may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK for specific products and applications. Class acceptance must be verified for the exact plug, rating, installation location, and vessel notation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm voltage, current, phase, pole arrangement, clock position, frequency, earthing, cable size, and IP rating before installation. Isolate and lock out the supply, terminate conductors according to the manufacturer's instructions, and provide suitable cable strain relief and enclosure protection.
Maintenance Tips Inspect contacts, pins, seals, covers, cable glands, and housings for corrosion, overheating, looseness, cracking, or water ingress. Clean with approved methods, tighten terminals to the specified torque, and replace damaged seals or connectors. Test insulation, continuity, and protective earthing as required.
Safety Notes Installation and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel with the circuit de-energized. Do not disconnect under load unless the connector is specifically rated for switching. Use only correctly rated plugs and sockets, maintain protective earthing, and prevent saltwater contamination or moisture entry.
