Gas Cylinders - General Stores, Hardware and Tools

Marine gas cylinders are refillable pressure vessels used aboard ships for welding and cutting gases, breathing-air systems, calibration gases, and other industrial gases. Selection depends on gas compatibility, working pressure, capacity, valve type, and applicable flag-state and classification requirements.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Gas Cylinders for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common requirements include ISO 9809 for seamless steel gas cylinders, ISO 7866 for seamless aluminum cylinders, EN 1964 for steel cylinders, and applicable IMDG Code, ADR, RID, or national pressure-equipment regulations. The exact requirement depends on gas, cylinder design, flag state, and service.
Class Approval Approval or acceptance may be required from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, or another recognized organization when specified by the vessel's flag state, system design, or procurement specification. Certification is product- and service-specific.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify gas identity, cylinder marking, valve connection, pressure rating, and certification before connection. Install upright where applicable, secure against movement, protect valves with caps, separate incompatible gases, and keep away from heat and ignition sources.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for corrosion, dents, abrasion, leakage, damaged valves, and unreadable markings. Keep cylinders clean and capped when not connected. Perform periodic inspection and hydrostatic or proof testing at the interval required by the applicable standard and local regulations.
Safety Notes Do not use a cylinder for a gas or pressure outside its certification. Keep oxygen equipment free from oil and grease. Do not drop, drag, heat, modify, refill, or repair cylinders onboard unless authorized. Handle and store according to the Safety Data Sheet, IMDG Code, and vessel procedures.
