Galvanized Pipes - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings
Hot-dip galvanized steel pipes and fittings are used in selected shipboard freshwater, utility, drainage, fire-service, and general service piping systems. Zinc coating provides atmospheric corrosion protection, but galvanized piping is generally unsuitable for continuous seawater service unless specifically approved.
ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Galvanized Pipes for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | Common standards include ASTM A53/A53M, EN 10255, ISO 65, and ISO 1461 for hot-dip galvanized coatings. Threaded fittings may comply with ASME B16.3 or ISO 49. Actual requirements depend on the ship specification and flag/class rules. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may accept galvanized piping components when supported by approved material certificates, dimensions, pressure ratings, and application-specific design approval. Approval is not universal for every pipe or service. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Verify pipe schedule, pressure rating, dimensions, coating condition, and class requirements before installation. Use compatible galvanized fittings and approved sealants. Avoid mixing dissimilar metals without suitable dielectric isolation. Do not use for seawater service unless specifically approved. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Inspect regularly for coating damage, rust, leakage, thread deterioration, and internal blockage. Repair exposed steel with an approved zinc-rich coating where permitted. Replace severely corroded sections and check supports, clamps, and insulation for moisture retention. |
| Safety Notes | Depressurize, drain, and isolate the system before cutting or dismantling. Use safe lifting and cutting practices. Provide ventilation when welding or hot-working galvanized steel because zinc fumes are hazardous. Follow vessel hot-work permits and class safety procedures. |
