Gate Valve Stems - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings

Replacement stems for marine gate valves used in seawater, ballast, bilge, fire-main, cooling-water and general piping systems. Stems transmit handwheel or actuator torque to open and close the valve gate.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Gate Valve Stems for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable standards may include EN 1171 for cast-iron gate valves, API 600 or API 602 for applicable industrial steel gate valves, and ISO 5208 for valve pressure testing. The replacement stem itself normally follows the original valve manufacturer's specifications.
Class Approval Marine approval is generally granted for the complete valve assembly and system, not an interchangeable stem alone. Where required, verify approval and material documentation with DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Identify the valve manufacturer, model, size, pressure rating, stem type and dimensions before ordering. Isolate, drain and depressurize the line, remove the handwheel or actuator, inspect the bonnet and gate connection, lubricate compatible threads, and confirm full opening and closing travel after installation.
Maintenance Tips Inspect exposed stems for corrosion, pitting, bending and thread wear. Keep threads clean and lubricated with a lubricant compatible with the service medium and valve materials. Check packing or stem seals for leakage and operate the valve periodically where permitted.
Safety Notes Lock out and tag out the valve and associated equipment before work. Confirm the piping is isolated, depressurized, drained and safe from hazardous fluids. Use correct lifting methods and never operate a seized valve with excessive force or an extension bar.
