Inverted Bucket Traps - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings

Inverted bucket traps are mechanical steam traps used on ships to automatically discharge condensate and non-condensable gases while retaining live steam. They are commonly installed on steam tracing, heating coils, fuel-oil systems, separators, and auxiliary steam services.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Inverted Bucket Traps for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include ASME B16.5 for flanges, ASME B16.11 for forged threaded or socket-weld connections, and EN 1092 where applicable. Pressure-temperature ratings are manufacturer-specific and must be verified from the datasheet.
Class Approval Classification approval is not inherent to all inverted bucket traps. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK acceptance may apply when specified by the vessel design, piping class, or manufacturer documentation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in the flow direction marked on the body, with the cover upright and the trap outlet adequately drained. Provide a proper water seal at the inlet, avoid unsupported piping loads, and fit isolation valves and a strainer where required by the system design.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for leakage, flooding, blockage, and abnormal water hammer. Clean the strainer and check the bucket, valve, seat, vent, and internal passages during overhaul. Replace worn sealing components using the manufacturer's service kit.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain, and cool the steam line before removal. Confirm the trap pressure and temperature ratings before installation. Use suitable PPE and beware of hot condensate, steam release, and water hammer.
