Needle Valves - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings

Needle valves are precision flow-control and isolation valves used in marine pump, piping, instrumentation, hydraulic, fuel, lubrication, and control systems. Their tapered needle and seat provide fine adjustment and reliable shutoff for relatively low-flow services.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Needle Valves for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include ASME B16.34 for valves, MSS SP-99 for instrument valves, ASME B1.20.1 for NPT threads, ISO 228-1 for pipe threads, and ISO 15848 where fugitive-emission performance is specified. Certification depends on the selected design.
Class Approval Generic needle valves are not automatically class-approved. Marine supply may require product documentation or type approval from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK when specified for classed systems.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm pressure, temperature, fluid compatibility, flow direction, connection standard, and required valve orientation before installation. Clean tubing and piping, use compatible thread sealant where permitted, and avoid using the valve handle to tighten fittings.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for leakage, corrosion, damaged threads, and difficult operation. Operate the valve through its travel during planned maintenance and replace worn packing, seats, or complete valves according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Safety Notes Depressurize, drain, isolate, and verify the system before removal or servicing. Do not use a needle valve as a substitute for a required emergency shutoff valve. Use materials and seals compatible with the conveyed fluid and operating temperature.
