Steam Traps - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings

Steam traps automatically discharge condensate and non-condensable gases from marine steam systems while minimizing live-steam loss. They are installed on steam-heated equipment, tracing lines, separators, drains, and auxiliary piping aboard ships.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Steam Traps for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Relevant requirements may include ISO 6704 for automatic steam-trap classification and applicable pressure-equipment, piping, flag-state, and manufacturer standards. Connection dimensions may follow ASME B16.5, ASME B16.11, or EN standards as specified.
Class Approval Class approval is application- and project-dependent. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may accept or approve steam traps when required by the vessel specification or piping system rules. Verify the maker's current type-approval documentation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in the correct flow direction with an accessible strainer and isolation valves. Provide adequate drainage, correct trap orientation, suitable condensate return routing, and a bypass only where required by the system design. Confirm pressure, temperature, capacity, and connection compatibility before installation.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for leakage, blockage, waterlogging, and abnormal discharge. Clean strainers and test trap operation during planned maintenance. Replace worn discs, floats, thermostatic elements, seats, and gaskets using the manufacturer's service kit.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain, and cool the steam line before removing or servicing a trap. Use approved PPE and beware of hot condensate, flash steam, pressure release, and water hammer. Never exceed the trap's rated pressure and temperature.
