Valve Handwheels - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings

Manual valve handwheels are operating components fitted to marine valves, pumps, and piping equipment. They transmit operator torque to a stem, gearbox, or actuator for opening, closing, or throttling flow.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Valve Handwheels for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements depend on the complete valve assembly. Common references include EN 12516 for industrial valve design, API 600 or API 609 where applicable, ISO 5211 for valve actuator mounting interfaces, and manufacturer-specific material and coating standards.
Class Approval Handwheels are normally approved as part of the complete valve or operating assembly rather than separately. Marine valve assemblies may be type-approved or accepted by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK when specified by the vessel or project.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify handwheel diameter, hub geometry, stem or gearbox interface, direction of operation, and available clearance before installation. Secure the handwheel with the specified key, nut, washer, pin, or retaining device. Do not force a mismatched handwheel onto the stem.
Maintenance Tips Inspect regularly for corrosion, cracks, deformation, loose fasteners, and damaged coatings. Lubricate the stem, gearbox, or hub only with the lubricant specified by the valve manufacturer. Exercise infrequently operated valves and confirm full travel without excessive force.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain, and lock out the relevant piping system before maintenance. Never use extension bars or impact tools unless approved by the manufacturer. Keep handwheels accessible and clearly marked, and avoid contact with hot, pressurized, toxic, or corrosive media.
