Welding Neck Flanges - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings

Welding neck flanges are butt-welded pipe flanges with a tapered hub, used to connect marine pumps, valves, piping and fittings. They provide strong, aligned joints suitable for pressure, temperature, vibration and cyclic loading in shipboard piping systems.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Welding Neck Flanges for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common standards include ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47 for large-diameter flanges, EN 1092-1, JIS B 2220, ISO 7005-1 and ASTM material specifications such as ASTM A105 and ASTM A182. Material certificates are commonly supplied to EN 10204 3.1.
Class Approval Use in classed vessels is subject to the applicable piping design, material, welding and pressure-testing rules of DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Individual flange approval depends on material, manufacturer documentation and the approved piping system.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify flange standard, size, pressure class, material, face type and bolt-hole alignment before installation. Butt-weld using an approved welding procedure, maintain correct pipe alignment, inspect the weld, and tighten bolts in a calibrated cross-pattern to the specified torque.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for corrosion, leakage, distortion, gasket damage and loose or seized bolts during planned maintenance. Replace gaskets after opening the joint and renew damaged fasteners or flanges. Check coating and cathodic-protection compatibility in seawater service.
Safety Notes Isolate, drain, depressurize and gas-free the piping system before loosening bolts or cutting welds. Use the correct gasket, bolts and torque values for the service. Follow hot-work permits, welding controls, confined-space procedures and vessel class requirements.
