Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Medical stethoscopes are generally supplied as medical devices under applicable national regulations, such as EU MDR 2017/745 or United States FDA requirements. Manufacturer quality systems may be certified to ISO 13485. No single universal stethoscope-specific marine standard applies.
Class Approval Classification society approval is normally not applicable to conventional manual stethoscopes. They may be carried as part of a vessel medical outfit complying with flag-state, SOLAS, or applicable maritime medical-equipment requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes No permanent installation is required. Inspect the chestpiece, tubing, eartips, and diaphragm before use; adjust eartip orientation and ensure an airtight fit. Store in a clean, dry medical locker.
Maintenance Tips Clean and disinfect the chestpiece and eartips according to the manufacturer instructions. Do not immerse the complete instrument or expose tubing to excessive heat, solvents, oils, or prolonged sunlight. Replace damaged diaphragms, eartips, or tubing.
Safety Notes Use only by trained medical or first-aid personnel. Do not use a damaged or contaminated stethoscope for patient examination. Follow onboard infection-control procedures and manufacturer-approved disinfectants.
