Air Handling Units - Refrigeration and HVAC

Marine air handling units condition and distribute treated air for accommodation, machinery spaces, control rooms, and other vessel areas. They may combine filtration, heating, cooling, dehumidification, humidification, and fan sections in corrosion-resistant, vibration-resistant construction.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Air Handling Units for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include EN 1886 and EN 13053 for air-handling unit performance, IEC 60092-504 for shipboard special-purpose electrical installations, and project-specific flag-state or class requirements. Exact compliance depends on design and vessel specification.
Class Approval DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may approve or review marine AHU installations when required by the vessel project. Approval is generally project-specific rather than universal for every unit.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install on a rigid, level foundation with vibration isolation and adequate service clearance. Connect supply and return air ducts, chilled-water or refrigerant circuits, drains, electrical power, controls, and fire or smoke dampers according to approved drawings. Provide drainage traps and protect duct penetrations against condensation and seawater ingress.
Maintenance Tips Inspect and replace filters regularly. Clean coils, drain pans, strainers, fans, and condensate drains. Check belts, bearings, vibration isolators, dampers, valves, sensors, electrical terminals, refrigerant or chilled-water connections, and casing seals. Record airflow, temperatures, pressures, and alarms.
Safety Notes Isolate electrical power and apply lockout/tagout before servicing. Depressurize chilled-water or refrigerant circuits using approved procedures. Use suitable PPE when handling filters, coils, refrigerants, and cleaning chemicals. Verify fire damper and emergency shutdown functions after maintenance.
