Refrigeration Expansion Valves - Refrigeration and HVAC

Refrigeration expansion valves regulate refrigerant flow into evaporators on marine refrigeration, provision cooling, air-conditioning and HVAC systems. Thermostatic and electronic types maintain superheat and protect compressors from liquid refrigerant return.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Refrigeration Expansion Valves for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include PED 2014/68/EU, EN 12284, ISO 5149 and ASHRAE 15, depending on valve design, refrigerant and installation. Product-specific conformity documentation must be verified with the manufacturer.
Class Approval Marine acceptance and type approval are application- and manufacturer-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may accept the valve as part of an approved refrigeration or HVAC system; verify the vessel class documentation before procurement.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the valve, power element, orifice and refrigerant for the specified evaporating and condensing conditions. Install in the correct flow direction, protect the sensing bulb from damage, insulate and secure it at the evaporator outlet, and braze using dry nitrogen where required. Follow the manufacturer's superheat setting procedure.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for refrigerant leakage, frost patterns, abnormal superheat and restricted strainers. Check bulb attachment, electrical connections on electronic valves, and controller operation. Replace damaged power elements, coils, sensors or orifices with approved parts and recommission superheat after service.
Safety Notes Isolate, recover and depressurize the refrigerant circuit before removal. Use refrigerant-specific PPE, ventilation and recovery equipment. Do not mix refrigerants or exceed the valve pressure and temperature ratings. Electrical work must be performed with power isolated by qualified personnel.
