Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification EN 14420-5 is commonly relevant to threaded hose couplings. Thread dimensions may follow ISO 7-1, ISO 228-1 or ASME B1.20.1, depending on the connection. Petroleum hose assemblies may also require EN 1765 or applicable vessel and terminal specifications.
Class Approval Classification approval is product- and application-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may accept or approve hose assemblies and fuel-transfer equipment when specified by the vessel design or class rules.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify hose size, thread type, material compatibility, pressure rating and seal material before installation. Use the specified hose tail and approved clamps or ferrules. Do not force mismatched BSP, NPT or metric threads. Pressure-test the completed assembly before service.
Maintenance Tips Inspect threads, seals, hose tails, clamps and coupling bodies for corrosion, wear, leakage and deformation. Replace damaged seals and coupling components. Keep threads clean and protected, and follow the hose assembly manufacturer's inspection and replacement intervals.
Safety Notes Depressurize, drain and isolate the system before disconnecting. Confirm the fluid and vapor hazards, use suitable PPE and provide spill containment. Bond or electrically ground the assembly where required for petroleum transfer, and never exceed the lowest-rated component.
