Chartplotters - Navigation and Communication

Marine chartplotters are integrated electronic navigation displays used to view digital nautical charts, vessel position, routes, waypoints, AIS and radar data. Many units also interface with GNSS, autopilots, depth sounders, VHF radios and onboard communication networks.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Chartplotters for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable standards depend on model and intended vessel use. Common references include IEC 60945 for maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment environmental and EMC requirements, IEC 62288 for presentation of navigation-related information, and IEC 61162 for marine digital interfaces. SOLAS and flag-state requirements may apply to commercial installations.
Class Approval Type approval is model- and configuration-specific. Commercially approved equipment may be listed by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, RINA or ClassNK. Confirm the manufacturer's current type-approval certificate and vessel class requirements before installation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install on a rigid bridge console with clear visibility, adequate ventilation and protection from water ingress. Connect approved power protection, GNSS, chart data, AIS, radar, autopilot and communication interfaces according to the manufacturer's wiring instructions. Configure vessel dimensions, sensors, datum and network settings, then perform a functional and compass-safe installation check.
Maintenance Tips Keep the display, connectors and ventilation openings clean and dry. Inspect power, network and antenna connections for corrosion or looseness. Maintain current electronic chart permits and software, back up routes and waypoints, and test position, heading, AIS, alarms and networked sensors periodically.
Safety Notes A chartplotter is an aid to navigation and must not replace official nautical charts, visual observations or required bridge procedures. Verify position and heading using independent sources. Use only licensed chart data, maintain safe watchkeeping, and follow SOLAS, flag-state, company and classification requirements.
