Radar Transceivers - Navigation and Communication

Marine radar transceivers transmit microwave pulses and receive reflected echoes to detect vessels, coastlines, aids to navigation and weather targets. They are integrated into X-band or S-band navigation radar systems for shipboard situational awareness and collision avoidance.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Radar Transceivers for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Marine radar equipment is commonly designed and type-approved to IMO performance standard MSC.192(79), IEC 62388 for shipborne radar equipment, IEC 62288 for navigation-display presentation, and IEC 60945 for general marine navigation and radiocommunication equipment.
Class Approval Approval is configuration- and vessel-specific. Type approvals may be issued by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK and other recognized classification societies when the complete radar installation meets applicable class and flag-state requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install the antenna, transceiver, display and interconnection units according to the manufacturer-approved drawing. Maintain required separation from satellite antennas and personnel areas, provide correct grounding and cable shielding, and interface accurately with gyro, GNSS, speed and AIS sensors.
Maintenance Tips Inspect antenna rotation, waveguide or RF connections, cooling fans, seals and cable glands. Keep the scanner and display clean, check heading and bearing alignment, test ARPA and sensor inputs, and follow the maker's scheduled transmitter and performance checks.
Safety Notes Do not enter the scanner safety zone while transmitting. Isolate and lock out electrical power before servicing. Microwave exposure limits, high voltage and rotating equipment hazards apply; maintenance must be performed by trained personnel using the manufacturer's procedures.
