Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification No single universal standard applies specifically to ordinary marine door stoppers. Stainless steel and hardware materials may be specified to applicable ASTM, EN, or ISO material requirements. Fire-door and escape-route applications must use hardware compatible with the approved door assembly.
Class Approval Ordinary accommodation door stoppers generally do not require individual type approval. Where installed on fire-rated, watertight, gastight, or class-controlled doors, the complete door and hardware arrangement should comply with the vessel's approved drawings and requirements of DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK, as applicable.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select a stopper compatible with door weight, opening angle, floor or bulkhead construction, and clearance. Mark fixing positions, verify that concealed services are not penetrated, use suitable marine-grade fasteners, and tighten without deforming the door or lining.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for loose fasteners, corrosion, damaged rubber or polymer buffers, and weakened magnets or hooks. Clean with fresh water and a mild detergent, dry thoroughly, and replace worn components. Do not use abrasive cleaners on polished finishes.
Safety Notes Confirm that the stopper does not obstruct escape routes, self-closing fire doors, watertight closures, or door latching. Avoid trip hazards from floor-mounted units and ensure the door cannot strike personnel or nearby equipment. Follow the vessel's permit-to-work and onboard safety procedures during installation.
