Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification EN 1253 may apply to floor gullies and drains where applicable. Shipboard sanitary drainage arrangements may also be designed in accordance with ISO 15749. Final compliance depends on the product design, installation and vessel requirements.
Class Approval Classification approval is generally project- and vessel-specific rather than universal for every drain. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may accept the installation when specified in approved ship piping and accommodation plans.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install level with the finished deck, provide the specified slope toward the drain, and connect to the approved wastewater piping system. Use suitable marine sealants, gaskets and pipe supports. Maintain deck watertight integrity and fit a trap where required.
Maintenance Tips Remove and clean grates and strainers regularly. Flush the drain and trap, remove hair, grease and debris, and inspect seals, welds and pipe connections for leakage, corrosion or blockage.
Safety Notes Isolate the relevant drainage system before maintenance and use gloves and eye protection. Do not enter tanks or confined spaces without an approved permit and safety procedure. Prevent open drains from creating trip hazards during work.
