Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Marine installations may require IEC 60945 electromagnetic compatibility and environmental compliance when the keyboard forms part of approved navigational or communication equipment. IP protection is specified under IEC 60529. Applicable approvals depend on the complete equipment system and installation.
Class Approval Standalone keyboards are not normally individually class-approved. When supplied as part of a type-approved bridge, navigation or communication console, approval may be associated with the complete system by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify connector type, operating-system compatibility, mounting dimensions, ingress rating and required backlighting before installation. Use correctly rated cables and sealed cable entries. Follow the equipment manufacturer's wiring and grounding instructions.
Maintenance Tips Clean with a manufacturer-approved damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or high-pressure water unless the product is specifically rated for it. Inspect keys, seals, connectors and cable glands regularly for wear or corrosion.
Safety Notes Isolate electrical power before replacement or wiring. Do not install a non-approved keyboard in a hazardous area unless it has the required hazardous-area certification. Confirm that the replacement does not compromise console sealing, EMC performance or equipment approval.
