Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Marine switch approval is model and configuration dependent. Commonly applicable requirements include IEC 60945 for maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment, IEC 60533 for shipboard electromagnetic compatibility, and IEC 61162-450 where used in compatible marine navigation network systems. Verify the manufacturer's certificate.
Class Approval Selected marine-approved configurations may be type-approved by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK. Approval is product-specific and may depend on firmware, power supply, enclosure, and installation location; verify current certificates before procurement.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in an approved cabinet or enclosure with adequate ventilation and environmental protection. Use the specified power supply, grounding, cable type, connector, bend radius and fiber termination. Separate data cables from high-power cables and configure redundant rings, VLANs and IP addresses according to the network design.
Maintenance Tips Inspect power, grounding, connectors, fiber links and cabinet conditions during planned maintenance. Check status LEDs, alarms, event logs and firmware compatibility. Clean optical connectors with approved materials and replace damaged cables or connectors.
Safety Notes Isolate and lock out electrical power before installation or wiring. Follow vessel electrical safety procedures and manufacturer limits. Do not look into active fiber-optic ports, exceed network or power ratings, or install equipment without confirming environmental and class requirements.
