Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Equipment racks commonly use 19-inch mounting dimensions in accordance with IEC 60297 and IEC 60917. Electrical bonding, enclosure protection and EMC requirements may involve IEC 60533, IEC 60092-504 and IEC 60529, depending on the vessel and installation.
Class Approval Class approval is configuration- and project-dependent. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may review or approve the complete marine installation, including rack construction, securing, grounding, shock, vibration, EMC and fire requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Secure the rack to the deck, bulkhead or approved foundation using the manufacturer's fixing details. Verify clearances, ventilation, cable bend radius, equipment weight distribution, grounding and segregation of power, signal and radio-frequency cables.
Maintenance Tips Inspect mounting bolts, doors, locks, bonding straps, cable supports and ventilation paths periodically. Remove dust and salt contamination, check cooling fans and filters, and verify that equipment remains securely mounted after vessel vibration or maintenance work.
Safety Notes Confirm rack stability and deck loading before installation. Bond and earth the enclosure as required by the vessel electrical plan. Isolate power before servicing energized equipment, observe electrical clearances, and use lifting assistance for heavily populated racks.
