Exhaust Valve Seats - Main Engine and Propulsion

Engine-specific seat or seat ring providing the sealing surface for a marine diesel engine exhaust valve. It withstands hot, corrosive exhaust gas and repeated impact while maintaining gas-tight cylinder sealing and efficient heat transfer.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Exhaust Valve Seats for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Manufactured and inspected to the engine maker's approved drawings, material specifications and quality procedures. ISO 9001 may apply to the manufacturer, but dimensions, material grade, hardness, contact width and tolerances are engine-specific rather than governed by one universal seat standard.
Class Approval Normally accepted as part of the class-approved engine design. Replacement and reconditioning may require traceability, inspection or survey under DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK rules, depending on vessel class and repair scope.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm engine type, bore, design mark, cylinder-head or valve-cage version and part number. Inspect the housing, follow the OEM heating, cooling and interference-fit procedure, then verify seating contact, concentricity, valve clearance and gas tightness.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for burning, pitting, cracking, recession, corrosion and loose fit during exhaust-valve overhaul. Measure seat contact width and valve recession against maker limits. Regrind only within permitted limits and replace seats that are cracked, excessively worn or below minimum dimensions.
Safety Notes Stop and isolate the engine, engage turning-gear interlocks, release cylinder pressure and allow components to cool. Use approved lifting tools and protection against hot parts, sharp edges and grinding dust. Pressure-test only with rated equipment and barriers.
