Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Blade dimensions, alloy, heat treatment and acceptance criteria are controlled by OEM drawings. Rotor balancing is commonly performed to ISO 21940 requirements; material traceability may be documented by EN 10204 inspection certificates when specified.
Class Approval Turbochargers may be covered by engine or turbocharger type approval from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Individual replacement blades normally require OEM conformity, traceability and acceptance under the vessel's applicable class survey requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm turbocharger type, serial number, blade position, root profile and OEM part number. Replace blades only using approved procedures; inspect the disc and locking parts, verify blade mass grouping, clearances and complete rotor dynamic balancing before service.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for erosion, deposits, cracks, tip damage, overheating, root fretting and corrosion during overhaul. Maintain exhaust-side cleaning and correct combustion. Use approved nondestructive testing and replace blades that exceed OEM limits.
Safety Notes Isolate and cool the engine and turbocharger before work. Prevent rotor rotation and follow lockout procedures. Never reuse cracked or deformed blades, and do not grind or weld blades unless specifically authorized by the OEM. Incorrect installation or balance can cause catastrophic rotor failure.
