Nozzle Rings - Main Engine and Propulsion

A nozzle ring is a stationary turbine guide-vane assembly in a marine diesel engine turbocharger. It directs exhaust gas onto the turbine wheel at the designed angle and velocity, supporting turbocharger efficiency, scavenge-air pressure and engine performance.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Nozzle Rings for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification No universal standalone certification applies to every nozzle ring. Manufacture, material, dimensions and inspection should comply with the turbocharger OEM drawing, engine technical file and applicable marine class rules. Material certificates and dimensional inspection records may be required.
Class Approval Acceptance may be subject to the vessel's classification society, including DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Approval normally depends on OEM compatibility, material traceability, repair scope and class survey requirements rather than separate type approval of the ring.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm the turbocharger model, serial number, turbine specification and OEM part number. Clean mating surfaces, inspect the gas casing, verify ring orientation and clearances, and tighten fasteners to the OEM sequence and torque. Renew specified seals and locking devices.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for erosion, burning, cracking, distortion and carbon deposits during overhaul. Clean only by OEM-approved methods, measure critical dimensions and vane condition, and replace the ring if wear or damage exceeds prescribed limits.
Safety Notes Isolate the engine, prevent starting, shut off starting air and allow the turbocharger to cool before work. Exhaust components may remain hot and contaminated with soot. Use suitable lifting equipment and never operate with incorrect clearances, loose fasteners or damaged vanes.
