Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | Flap discs are commonly manufactured and tested in accordance with EN 13743 for coated abrasive products on backing. ANSI B7.7 may apply in North American markets. The exact standard depends on the manufacturer and supply region. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | Flap discs are generally consumable workshop tools and do not normally carry separate DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK type approval. Shipyard and vessel use should follow the equipment maker's requirements and applicable safety procedures. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Select the correct disc diameter, abrasive type, grit, bore, and maximum RPM for the angle grinder. Fit the disc in the specified direction if marked, tighten the flange correctly, and verify that the grinder guard is installed. Do not exceed the disc's marked maximum speed. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Store discs dry and flat or in their original packaging, away from moisture, heat, and chemicals. Inspect before use for damaged flaps, cracks, deformation, or a damaged backing. Replace worn or contaminated discs and do not dress or modify them. |
| Safety Notes | Wear eye and face protection, hearing protection, gloves, safety footwear, and suitable respiratory protection. Use the correct guard and maintain a firm two-handed grip. Keep personnel clear of sparks and workpiece fragments, and remove combustible materials from the work area. |
