Welding Cables - Welding and Fabrication

Marine welding cables are flexible, heavy-duty copper cables used to carry welding current between shipboard welding machines, electrode holders, and workpieces. They are designed for abrasion, oil, moisture, mechanical handling, and demanding shipyard environments.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Welding Cables for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification IEC 60245-6 and EN 50525-2-81 are commonly applicable to rubber-insulated welding cables, including type H01N2-D. Product-specific certificates and marine approvals must be verified from the manufacturer.
Class Approval Marine acceptance may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, RINA, or ClassNK depending on the specific cable construction and manufacturer. Classification approval is not automatic for every welding cable.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select cable cross-section according to welding current, cable length, duty cycle, and voltage drop. Use correctly rated electrode holders, return clamps, lugs, and cable couplers. Avoid sharp bends, crushing, hot surfaces, and contact with rotating machinery.
Maintenance Tips Inspect regularly for cuts, abrasion, crushed sections, exposed conductors, loose terminals, and overheated connectors. Keep cables clean and dry, coil without tight kinks, and replace damaged sections rather than using unsafe temporary repairs.
Safety Notes Isolate and de-energize the welding set before handling or making connections. Ensure the work return connection is secure and close to the welding area. Do not use cables with damaged insulation, exposed copper, undersized conductors, or wet connectors.
