Welding Curtains - Welding and Fabrication
Welding curtains are flexible, flame-resistant screens used in shipyards, engine rooms, workshops, and onboard repair areas. They contain welding arc radiation, sparks, spatter, and glare while helping protect nearby personnel and equipment.
ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Welding Curtains for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | EN ISO 25980 specifies transparent welding curtains and screens for protection against harmful optical radiation from welding and related processes. Product-specific fire-retardancy, smoke, and material certifications should be verified from the manufacturer. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | Welding curtains are generally safety consumables and are not normally individually type-approved by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK. For shipboard use, verify vessel fire-safety requirements and any owner or class requirements for hot-work equipment. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Install curtains around the hot-work area using a stable, noncombustible frame or approved curtain track. Overlap adjacent panels, keep the bottom edge close to the deck without creating a trip hazard, and maintain ventilation and safe access. Do not use curtains as a substitute for welding helmets or personal protective equipment. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Inspect regularly for burns, holes, tears, brittle areas, contamination, and damaged eyelets or hooks. Clean according to the manufacturer's instructions and replace damaged or degraded panels. Keep curtains dry and stored away from heat, chemicals, and direct sunlight. |
| Safety Notes | Confirm the curtain type and shade or optical protection rating are suitable for the welding process. Remove combustible materials from the hot-work area, provide fire watch and ventilation, and control sparks and slag. Welding curtains do not provide protection against electric shock, fumes, fire, or direct viewing of the welding arc. |
