Welding Positioners - Welding and Fabrication

Welding positioners rotate, tilt, or manipulate workpieces to place marine fabrication welds in the most suitable welding position. They are used in shipyards, marine repair facilities, and workshops for fabricating pipe spools, structural sections, foundations, brackets, and machinery components.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Welding Positioners for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Positioners are commonly manufactured to applicable machinery safety and electrical requirements such as ISO 12100 and IEC 60204-1. Welding work performed using the equipment may be governed by AWS D1.1, ISO 3834, or applicable shipyard welding procedures.
Class Approval Welding positioners are not normally individually class-approved. For classed vessel work, acceptance may be subject to the requirements of DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK, together with approved welding procedures and survey requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install on a level, rigid foundation with adequate load capacity. Verify electrical supply, grounding, rotation direction, emergency stop operation, workpiece balance, and secure fixture attachment before use.
Maintenance Tips Inspect gears, bearings, brakes, cables, controls, and workholding fixtures regularly. Lubricate according to the manufacturer manual, remove welding spatter, and check backlash, load ratings, and electrical connections.
Safety Notes Do not exceed rated load, speed, or tilt capacity. Secure and balance the workpiece before rotation. Keep personnel clear of pinch points and the rotating envelope, use appropriate welding PPE, and isolate electrical power before maintenance.
