Cargo Stripping Pumps - Container Ship Specific

Container ships do not normally use liquid-cargo stripping pumps. Comparable self-priming pumps are installed to remove residual bilge water from cargo holds, drain wells and associated piping where the main bilge pump cannot maintain suction.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Cargo Stripping Pumps for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Bilge-system installation is generally governed by SOLAS Chapter II-1, flag-state requirements and vessel classification rules. Pump performance testing may follow ISO 9906. Applicable motor, electrical protection and material standards depend on the approved vessel design.
Class Approval Acceptance is vessel- and installation-specific. Pumps, motors and bilge arrangements may require approval or certification by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK according to the ship's class.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install near the stripping suction point with accessible isolation and non-return valves. Keep suction piping short, airtight and continuously rising toward the pump. Verify required NPSH, priming arrangement, motor rating, drainage and class-approved bilge-system connections.
Maintenance Tips Inspect strainers, impeller, casing, seals, bearings and non-return valves. Check suction piping for air leaks and corrosion. Test self-priming performance and emergency operation periodically, and preserve the pump against internal corrosion during extended idle periods.
Safety Notes Isolate electrical power and close connected valves before maintenance. Confirm that pumped water contains no hazardous cargo residue, oil or chemicals incompatible with pump materials. Do not run dry beyond the manufacturer's permitted duration, and comply with enclosed-space and pollution-prevention procedures.
