Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Hatch-cover weathertightness is governed by the International Convention on Load Lines and applicable flag-state and classification-society rules. Seal material, profile, compression and jointing should comply with the hatch-cover OEM drawings and approved vessel documentation.
Class Approval Hatch-cover sealing arrangements may be reviewed by the vessel's class society, including DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK. Replacement packing is not automatically class-approved; equivalence to the approved OEM profile and material may require verification.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm the profile, dimensions and compound against OEM drawings. Clean the retaining channel, remove corrosion and old adhesive, dry-fit the packing, use the specified adhesive, and vulcanize or bond joints without stretching the seal. Verify compression and weathertightness after installation.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for cuts, hardening, permanent compression, loose joints, paint contamination and uneven contact. Keep channels and compression bars clean, renew damaged sections with matching material, and perform chalk, hose or ultrasonic testing as required.
Safety Notes Secure and isolate hatch-cover machinery before work. Follow confined-space and work-at-height procedures where applicable. Use suitable PPE and observe the adhesive manufacturer's ventilation, fire and chemical-handling precautions.
