Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Commonly applied requirements include ISO 3874 for handling and securing freight containers, ISO 1161 for container corner fittings, the IMO CSS Code, and the vessel's approved Cargo Securing Manual. Material testing and proof-load requirements depend on the maker and securing-system design.
Class Approval Acceptance is normally vessel- and system-specific. Container securing arrangements may be reviewed by classification societies such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK; supplier certificates or type approval should be verified for the selected fitting.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Fit only between compatible ISO corner castings at the positions shown in the approved Cargo Securing Manual. Inspect engagement, orientation, locking, and final tension; do not substitute it for specified twistlocks, rods, or turnbuckles.
Maintenance Tips Clean salt and debris from hooks, threads, and locking parts. Lubricate moving components with an approved marine lubricant and inspect regularly for corrosion, deformation, cracks, worn threads, or damaged locking devices.
Safety Notes Use only within the maker's rated load and the approved lashing plan. Do not install or release fittings while containers are moving or under unsafe load. Remove damaged fittings from service and use suitable PPE when working aloft or near container stacks.
