Cargo Tank Level Gauges - Container Ship Specific

Cargo tank level gauges continuously or manually measure liquid level in tanker cargo tanks using radar, servo, float or pressure technology. They are not normally container-ship cargo equipment; container ships use similar approved gauges for fuel, ballast and service tanks.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Cargo Tank Level Gauges for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Typical applicable requirements include SOLAS, the IMO IBC or IGC Code according to cargo type, IEC 60092, IEC 60533 and IEC 60079 for hazardous-area equipment. Exact compliance and Ex certification depend on the gauge model, configuration and vessel service.
Class Approval Marine type approval may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK. Approval is model- and configuration-specific and must be verified against the vessel's class rules and current manufacturer certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install at the approved tank opening with correct flange, antenna or sensing arrangement and unobstructed measuring path. Maintain hazardous-area segregation, grounding and certified cable glands. Configure tank geometry, reference height, alarm points and trim/list compensation before calibration.
Maintenance Tips Inspect seals, flanges, wiring and grounding; clean antennas or sensing parts when cargo deposits affect readings. Function-test high-level alarms and compare readings with an approved reference method at scheduled intervals. Follow maker calibration and class survey requirements.
Safety Notes Isolate and depressurize the tank connection before service. Observe enclosed-space entry, gas-freeing and hazardous-area procedures. Do not open Ex enclosures while energized in a flammable atmosphere, and never disable independent overfill protection during cargo operations.
