Hydraulic Cylinders - Container Ship Specific

Marine hydraulic cylinders convert hydraulic pressure into linear force for container-ship hatch covers, ramps, cranes and deck machinery. They are typically corrosion-protected and engineered for saltwater exposure, shock loads and vessel-specific mounting geometry.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Hydraulic Cylinders for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Commonly designed with reference to ISO 4413 for hydraulic-system safety, ISO 6020 or ISO 6022 for cylinder dimensions where applicable, and ISO 4406 for hydraulic-fluid cleanliness. Coating and material requirements are normally defined by the vessel owner or equipment maker.
Class Approval Acceptance may be required by the vessel's classification society, such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Approval is normally project- and system-specific; an individual replacement cylinder must match approved drawings, loads, materials and hydraulic parameters.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify bore, stroke, retracted and extended lengths, mounting centers, pin diameters, port orientation, working pressure and hydraulic-fluid compatibility. Align mountings without side load, flush lines, bleed trapped air and test operation at low pressure before full-load service.
Maintenance Tips Inspect the rod, seals, pins, bearings, hoses and coatings for leakage, corrosion, scoring and wear. Maintain specified fluid cleanliness, lubricate mounting pins where required, renew damaged rod protection and replace seals with equipment-maker-approved materials.
Safety Notes Depressurize and lock out the hydraulic system before work. Mechanically support hatch covers, ramps or machinery because trapped pressure or gravity can cause sudden movement. Never search for high-pressure leaks by hand, and use rated lifting equipment during cylinder removal.
