Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common applicable standards include IEC 60309-1 and IEC 60309-2 for industrial plugs and socket-outlets, IEC 60529 for IP protection, and relevant IEC 60092 shipboard electrical installation requirements. Outlet panels may also be assessed under IEC 61439.
Class Approval Marine outlet assemblies may be supplied with type approval or project acceptance from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Approval depends on the exact socket, enclosure, distribution panel and vessel specification.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Match voltage, frequency, current rating, pole arrangement and clock position to the vessel and reefer plug. Install in a drained, accessible location using marine-grade cables, glands and earthing. Verify phase sequence, interlock operation and protective-device coordination.
Maintenance Tips Inspect contacts for overheating, arcing, corrosion and loss of contact pressure. Clean the enclosure, check seals, hinges, interlocks, glands and mounting hardware, and periodically test insulation resistance, earth continuity and protective-device operation.
Safety Notes Isolate, lock out and verify absence of voltage before servicing. Do not connect or disconnect under load unless the interlock is designed to prevent energization. Keep covers closed when unused and replace damaged, wet, overheated or corroded components immediately.
