Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Reefer containers are generally designed to ISO 1496-2 and CSC requirements. USDA cold-treatment shipments require compliant calibrated cargo probes and records. Logger compliance, EMC and electrical approvals depend on the controller model, reefer unit and flag-state requirements.
Class Approval Container-mounted logger modules are normally approved as part of the reefer unit rather than individually classed. Shipboard power, cabling and remote reefer-monitoring installations may require approval by the vessel's society, such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Use the logger specified for the reefer controller. Isolate power before connection, install approved sensors in designated positions, verify polarity and communications, set the clock and container ID, then perform a pre-trip inspection and test download.
Maintenance Tips Download and archive records routinely. Check clock accuracy, memory status, connectors, seals and communication ports. Inspect temperature probes and wiring for damage, calibrate cargo probes when required, and replace backup batteries only according to the OEM procedure.
Safety Notes De-energize the reefer unit before opening electrical compartments. Follow lockout procedures and OEM electrostatic-discharge precautions. Do not bypass protective circuits, and use only approved probes, cables and batteries suitable for the marine reefer environment.
