Reefer Temperature Sensors - Container Ship Specific
Reefer temperature sensors monitor supply air, return air, evaporator coils and cargo pulp temperatures in refrigerated marine containers. They provide feedback to the reefer controller for temperature regulation, alarms, recording and cold-chain compliance.
ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Reefer Temperature Sensors for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | IEC 60751 applies to standardized platinum RTD elements where used. ISO 1496-2 covers thermal containers. USDA cold-treatment probes and recording systems must satisfy applicable USDA treatment-program requirements. Complete sensor assemblies are normally qualified to the reefer-unit OEM specification. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | Standalone replacement probes do not normally have universal class approval. Acceptance may form part of an OEM reefer system, vessel monitoring system or type-approved equipment reviewed by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Verify the required approval with the vessel class and OEM. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Use the exact OEM-specified sensor type, resistance curve, cable length and connector. Isolate power, route wiring away from power conductors, seal cable entries and position air probes in the specified airflow without contacting metal surfaces. Verify readings against a calibrated reference after installation. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Inspect probes, connectors and cables for corrosion, moisture ingress, abrasion and loose terminals. Compare readings with a traceable calibrated thermometer, clean probe guards without damaging the element and replace sensors showing drift, unstable readings or insulation failure. |
| Safety Notes | Disconnect and lock out reefer electrical power before wiring work. Observe refrigerated-space entry procedures and avoid contact with fans, heaters, refrigerant piping and energized circuits. Incorrect or mismatched sensors can cause cargo damage, icing, overheating or failed cold-treatment records. |
