Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Normally supplied to the hatch-cover OEM's ship-specific approved drawings and applicable SOLAS, International Load Line Convention, flag-state, and classification-rule requirements. Welding procedures, material certificates, proof-load testing, and NDT may be required by the approved design.
Class Approval Acceptance may be required from the vessel's classification society, such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK. Approval is vessel- and drawing-specific; a generic lifting pad is not automatically class approved.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify vessel, hatch number, pad position, dimensions, safe working load, material grade, and drawing revision. Install only to the OEM or class-approved drawing using qualified welding procedures and specified fasteners. Inspect alignment and perform required NDT or load testing before use.
Maintenance Tips Regularly inspect for cracks, deformation, corrosion, wear, loose fasteners, and damaged welds. Keep engagement surfaces clean and protected against corrosion. Measure critical wear areas and renew only to approved limits and procedures.
Safety Notes Never lift with unidentified, damaged, distorted, or uncertified pads. Use only the designated lifting beam or spreader and observe the approved lifting plan and safe working load. Keep personnel clear of suspended hatch covers and isolate lifting equipment before inspection.
