Escape Route Markings - Safety and Protection

Photoluminescent escape route markings identify evacuation paths, stairways, doors, assembly stations and lifesaving equipment on ships. They remain visible during power failure by emitting stored light after exposure to normal lighting.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Escape Route Markings for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Marine low-location lighting and escape-route arrangements should comply with applicable SOLAS Chapter II-2 requirements, IMO Resolution A.752(18), and ISO 15370 where applicable. Product photoluminescent performance may also be declared to ISO 17398 or relevant national sign standards.
Class Approval Acceptance is subject to the vessel's flag administration and approved fire-safety plan. Marine applications may require approval or acceptance by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK, depending on vessel type and installation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install on clean, dry, smooth surfaces according to the approved fire-control and escape-route plan. Orient directional symbols toward the escape direction and avoid obstruction by furniture, equipment or coatings. Follow the manufacturer's surface-preparation and adhesive instructions.
Maintenance Tips Keep markings clean and unobstructed. Check adhesion, legibility, physical damage and photoluminescent performance during safety rounds and drills. Replace faded, damaged or detached sections and verify adequate charging illumination.
Safety Notes Markings supplement, but do not replace, emergency lighting, illuminated exit signs or the vessel's fire and safety systems. Do not paint over or cover them. Use only materials suitable for the installed location and approved by the vessel's safety management and classification requirements.
