Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common standards include EN 443 for helmets for firefighting in buildings and other structures, EN 14458 for high-performance visors, and applicable SOLAS Chapter III requirements. Marine supply should use the manufacturer's MED/Wheelmark-approved configuration where required.
Class Approval Fire helmets are generally accepted through applicable SOLAS/MED approval and flag-state requirements rather than universal standalone class approval. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, RINA and ClassNK may accept approved equipment subject to vessel certification requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes No permanent installation is required. Adjust the headband, chin strap, visor and neck protection before use. Confirm compatibility with the vessel's fire suit, hood, gloves and breathing apparatus.
Maintenance Tips Inspect the shell, visor, suspension, chin strap and reflective markings before and after use. Clean with mild soap and fresh water, dry naturally, and replace damaged or heat-exposed components according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Safety Notes Use only helmets with the required marine approval and correct size. Do not drill, paint, modify or apply unapproved decals. Replace the helmet after severe impact, chemical contamination, visible damage or exposure beyond the manufacturer's limits.
