Sprinkler Systems - Safety and Protection

Marine sprinkler systems are fixed fire-protection installations that automatically discharge water or water mist when heat activates sprinkler heads. They protect accommodation areas, service spaces, machinery spaces, cargo areas, and other vessel compartments.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Sprinkler Systems for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include SOLAS Chapter II-2, IMO FSS Code Chapter 8, and flag-state rules. Design may follow NFPA 13, NFPA 750, or EN 12845 where accepted. Water mist systems require applicable IMO type-approval guidance.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install according to the approved fire-control plan, maker instructions, class requirements, and vessel piping arrangements. Maintain required clearances below sprinkler heads and provide accessible isolation, test, drain, and alarm valves.
Maintenance Tips Test alarms, pumps, valves, pressure switches, and flow switches at scheduled intervals. Inspect sprinkler heads for corrosion, paint, obstruction, or mechanical damage. Flush and pressure-test piping as required by the approved maintenance plan.
Safety Notes Isolate and depressurize the correct section before maintenance, with fire-watch and temporary fire protection arranged. Never paint, obstruct, remove, or replace sprinkler heads with non-approved components. Follow vessel procedures and permit-to-work requirements.
