Rescue Slings - Safety and Protection

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements depend on design and intended use. Rescue harnesses or loops may be assessed to EN 1497 or EN 1498. Marine equipment used under SOLAS should meet the vessel's flag-state, IMO LSA Code, and manufacturer approval requirements where applicable.
Class Approval Approval is product- and application-specific. Where required for shipboard safety equipment, acceptance may involve DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK. Verify certification for the exact model and vessel application.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes No permanent installation is normally required. Secure the sling at an identified rescue station, connect only to rated lifting or recovery equipment, and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Confirm compatibility with winches, cranes, rescue boats, or harnesses before use.
Maintenance Tips Inspect regularly for cuts, abrasion, damaged stitching, corrosion, contamination, fading, and missing labels. Rinse salt and dirt with fresh water, dry thoroughly, and store away from heat, chemicals, sunlight, and sharp edges. Replace after overload or any damage.
Safety Notes Do not exceed the marked safe working load or use damaged equipment. A rescue sling is not automatically a fall-arrest or lifting sling unless specifically certified for that purpose. Use trained personnel, suitable PPE, and an approved rescue procedure; never lift a person with uncertified or incompatible equipment.
