Fireman Regulators - Safety and Protection

Marine fireman regulators are pressure-reducing breathing regulators used with compressed-air self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for firefighting and emergency escape operations aboard ships. They deliver breathable air at a controlled pressure from the cylinder to the face mask.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Fireman Regulators for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Marine SCBA regulators are commonly supplied as part of systems complying with IMO SOLAS Chapter II-2, the IMO Fire Safety Systems Code and EN 137. Applicable product approvals may include EU Marine Equipment Directive certification, depending on flag state and equipment configuration.
Class Approval Approval is generally issued for the complete breathing-apparatus system rather than the regulator alone. Applicable marine approvals may involve DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK, subject to the manufacturer's certificate and vessel flag requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install only the regulator specified for the SCBA model. Inspect seals, hose connections and coupling compatibility before connection. Open the cylinder valve slowly, perform the manufacturer's leak and functional checks, and verify positive-pressure operation where applicable.
Maintenance Tips Clean and disinfect after use according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Inspect diaphragm, seals, hose, coupling and body for damage or contamination. Do not lubricate with petroleum products. Perform periodic servicing and pressure testing only through an authorized service facility.
Safety Notes Use only with certified breathing-air cylinders and compatible face masks. Never use oxygen or contaminated compressed gas. Confirm cylinder pressure, leak-tightness and regulator operation before entry. Follow the vessel’s SCBA procedures, permit requirements and planned emergency-rescue arrangements.
