Blasting Suits - Shipyard and Dry Dock Equipment

Protective blasting suits are worn by shipyard and dry-dock personnel during abrasive blasting, paint removal, and surface preparation. They provide protection from abrasive rebound, dust, coatings, and contamination, normally together with an approved supplied-air blasting helmet.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Blasting Suits for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Abrasive-blasting clothing may be designed or certified to EN ISO 14877. Supplied-air blasting helmets and respirators may be assessed to EN 14594 or applicable national requirements. U.S. shipyard use is subject to OSHA requirements including 29 CFR 1910.94 and 1910.134.
Class Approval Classification-society approval is generally not applicable to blasting suits. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, and ClassNK may approve shipyard work procedures or equipment arrangements, but approval should be verified for the specific product and project.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the correct size and inspect the suit before use. Close all fasteners and adjust cuffs and waist to minimize abrasive entry. Use only with a compatible approved blasting helmet, breathing-air hose, and breathing-air quality system.
Maintenance Tips Remove abrasive dust after each use. Inspect fabric, seams, cuffs, closures, and reinforcement panels for wear or damage. Clean according to the manufacturer's instructions and replace the suit when protection or airtight closures are compromised.
Safety Notes A blasting suit does not replace respiratory protection, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and safety footwear. Use a properly maintained supplied-air helmet and breathing-air system. Keep unauthorized personnel outside the blasting zone and follow the abrasive and coating manufacturer's safety data.
