Boom Lifts - Shipyard and Dry Dock Equipment

Boom lifts are mobile elevating work platforms used in shipyards, dry docks and vessel repair areas to provide elevated access for welding, painting, blasting, inspection, outfitting and maintenance. Rough-terrain diesel models are commonly selected for uneven dockside surfaces.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Boom Lifts for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements commonly include ISO 16368 and EN 280 for mobile elevating work platforms, plus ANSI A92.20, ANSI A92.22 and ANSI A92.24 where applicable. Confirm the current edition and local occupational-safety requirements before use.
Class Approval Boom lifts are generally not classification-society items. When operated aboard a classed vessel or in restricted shipyard areas, verify project, flag-state, port, hazardous-area and site requirements with DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV or ClassNK as applicable.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Position on firm, level ground with adequate ground-bearing capacity. Maintain clearance from vessel structures, overhead lines, cranes and dock edges. Deploy outriggers where fitted, inspect the work area, and use the manufacturer's specified tie-down points for transport.
Maintenance Tips Follow the manufacturer's service schedule. Inspect boom pins, cylinders, hoses, tires, platform controls, emergency lowering system, alarms, interlocks and harness anchorages. Check hydraulic oil, engine fluids and battery condition, and record inspections and repairs.
Safety Notes Only trained and authorized operators may use the equipment. Wear a full-body harness connected to the designated platform anchorage. Do not exceed platform capacity, use the platform as a crane, operate beyond wind limits, or drive with the boom elevated unless permitted by the manufacturer.
