Hydraulic Couplings - Shipyard and Dry Dock Equipment

Hydraulic couplings connect and disconnect hydraulic hoses, tools, pumps, and machinery used in shipyards, dry docks, and marine repair operations. They provide controlled fluid transfer and, in many designs, automatic shut-off to reduce leakage during disconnection.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Hydraulic Couplings for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Relevant requirements may include ISO 16028 for flat-face hydraulic quick-action couplings, ISO 7241 for hydraulic quick-action couplings, and ISO 4413 for hydraulic fluid power systems. Exact compliance depends on the selected coupling series and manufacturer.
Class Approval Individual hydraulic couplings are not normally class-approved as standalone items. Approval or acceptance may be required when they form part of classed lifting, steering, hatch-cover, docking, or other essential hydraulic equipment. Confirm requirements with DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify size, pressure rating, fluid compatibility, and connection type before installation. Depressurize the hydraulic system, clean both coupling halves, inspect seals, and fully engage the locking mechanism. Support hoses to prevent side loading and twisting.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for leakage, corrosion, damaged seals, contamination, and damaged locking sleeves. Keep disconnected halves capped or plugged. Replace worn seals and couplings according to manufacturer instructions, and periodically verify connection security and pressure performance.
Safety Notes Never disconnect a pressurized hydraulic line. Hydraulic oil injection can cause serious injury even from a small leak; use guards and cardboard or leak-detection equipment, not hands, to locate leaks. Wear eye and hand protection and use only couplings rated for the system pressure and temperature.
