Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification IMO Guidelines for the Control and Management of Ships' Biofouling (MEPC.207(62)) are relevant to biofouling management. ISO 19030 may be used for hull and propeller performance measurement. Equipment-specific electrical, pressure-system and environmental requirements also apply.
Class Approval Specific class approval is not generally applicable to standard hull-cleaning equipment. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may review shipboard installations or specialized remotely operated systems when required by the vessel, flag administration or project specification.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Position pumps, hoses, control units and recovery systems according to the manufacturer's instructions. Verify water pressure, electrical supply, hose connections, lifting arrangements and access clearances before operation. Protect hull coatings and underwater appendages from excessive pressure or brush force.
Maintenance Tips Flush pumps and hoses with clean water after use. Inspect nozzles, brushes, seals, filters, hoses, cables and recovery components for wear. Store equipment drained and protected from corrosion. Calibrate pressure gauges and service pumps according to manufacturer instructions.
Safety Notes Only trained personnel should operate high-pressure or remotely operated cleaning equipment. Use required PPE, exclusion zones, lockout procedures and pressure-rated hoses and fittings. Confirm underwater diver and vessel isolation requirements before operation. Collect and dispose of removed fouling, paint residues and contaminated water according to port and environmental regulations.
