Rubber Fenders - Shipyard and Dry Dock Equipment

Rubber fenders are resilient marine protection components installed on shipyard walls, dry-dock entrances, quay edges, dolphins and dock structures. They absorb berthing or contact energy and protect vessel hulls and civil structures during docking, shifting and maintenance operations.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Rubber Fenders for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Design and performance are commonly specified using PIANC 2002 guidelines and manufacturer test data. Rubber properties may be verified against applicable ISO or ASTM elastomer test methods. Certification requirements depend on the project specification.
Class Approval Classification society approval is project- and application-dependent. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may review fender design or installation when required by the vessel, terminal or shipyard project.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify reaction force, energy absorption, dimensions, mounting arrangement and allowable hull contact pressure before installation. Use approved bolts, chains, steel panels or UHMW-PE sliding faces where specified. Align fenders continuously and tighten fasteners to the manufacturer's torque requirements.
Maintenance Tips Inspect regularly for cracking, tearing, permanent deformation, excessive wear, loose fasteners and corrosion of mounting hardware. Remove marine growth and debris. Replace fenders that no longer meet the specified dimensions or performance requirements.
Safety Notes Confirm the design reaction force and clearance before docking operations. Keep personnel clear of pinch points and the fender compression zone. Use lifting equipment suitable for the fender weight and follow the manufacturer's handling and installation instructions.
